Last night, we went to the opera.
We saw Tosca at the Opera Bastille, the national opera of Paris. And it was amaaaazing. I’m going to go to the opera everyday for the rest of my life. Except today, I guess.
Before the show, we got a synopsis of it at school, which included free food. WIN. Always a win when free sandwiches are offered. After what seemed like the longest metro ride ever, we were on our way to see the show.
Everyone should read the story of Tosca, because I wouldn’t be able to do it justice. Also, go listen to my favorite song.
The coolest part about it was that the songs were in Italian and the subtitles were in French, but I could still understand everything! So cultured(no matter what Emily says while I write this). When it came to an end, I started crying not only because the story was so tragic, but also because I realized we’re leaving in a week. SO weird.
Afterwards, we went to one of our friends apartments for a birthday party. It was weird to be at a house party, because here we usually go to bars or sit at home. Not quite like college as I know it. It was great though, because most of our friends from the program were there, as well as people we don’t usually get to see.
But of course, the metro schedule interfered (it closes at 1:15 on weeknights)…but we decided that since it’s our last week we wouldn’t let it bother us. We stayed at the party until 2:30, then I stayed at Claire’s apartment after! It was great, cause she lives really close to where the party was (I don’t at ALL).
Today, we went to school for the goodbye party “study break” and got to see Maggie and Justine singing for their class. Afterwards, Amanda, Ashley, Emily and I all went down to the Champ de Mars for an impromptu picnic! We stopped and got some wine, strawberries, pasta salad and walked over from school. So great–and with perfect weather too!
Tomorrow, I’m having my final soiree at my apartment…bittersweet only because I won’t miss cleaning up afterwards!
